Formed in 1941 by David Stirling, the SAS started as a handful of volunteers convinced that small, daring teams could achieve more than entire battalions. Their first mission was a near-disaster — only a third of the men made it back. They regrouped, adapted, and built one of the most respected special forces units in the world on exactly that mindset: dare first, ask permission later.
