Border control isn't a modern invention. Scotland's had a department for it since the 13th century.

In 1297, William Wallace and Andrew Moray led Scottish forces to a decisive victory over the English at Stirling Bridge — Scotland's first major win in the long fight to keep its borders its own. The job's changed a fair bit since then, but the underlying mission statement hasn't moved an inch.

For the lads who believe some borders have been worth defending since long before paperwork existed.
