Description

Most races have a finish line worth crossing. This one ended in mud, barbed wire, and four more years of war.

In autumn 1914, German and Allied forces spent weeks trying to outflank each other northward across France and Belgium, each side digging in further along the way. Neither army actually won — they simply ran out of room to manoeuvre once they hit the coast, and the resulting line of trenches became the Western Front for the rest of the war.

For the lads who'd rather walk than run toward something this miserable.
