After losing his seat in Congress in 1835, Davy Crockett famously told his constituents they could go to hell, because he was going to Texas. He arrived looking for new opportunities and ended up at the Alamo, defending it against Santa Anna's army during the 13-day siege that ended on 6 March 1836. Not quite the fresh start anyone had in mind, but undeniably memorable.

For the lads who know career changes don't always go to plan.
