On 25th June 1876, General George Armstrong Custer led 700 men of the 7th Cavalry into the Little Bighorn Valley and divided his forces in the face of a combined Lakota, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho force estimated at up to 2,000 warriors. Custer's battalion of 210 men was wiped out to the last man. The mission update came too late.
